New guidance: COVID-19 adult social care risk reduction framework.

This framework focuses specifically on how employers can support workers with factors which may make them more vulnerable to infection or adverse outcomes from COVID-19 to make decisions about their risks in the workplace. The document also includes resources to support the wellbeing of the adult social care workforce.

Repeat testing in care homes 

The Department of Health and Social Care have announced that 10,000 residents and staff across over 100 care homes will be given coronavirus tests as part of a new surveillance study. Please see this link to the press release on the Gov.uk website for further information

Whole care home testing webinars

The Department of Health and Social Care is providing daily webinars explaining the process of testing care homes and giving providers an opportunity to ask any questions.

Mobile testing sites in Sussex

Mobile testing sites are available in the following areas over the following week. 

  • 16, 17, 18,19 June - Midhurst, The Grange car park
  • 22,23,24,25 June - Crawley, Crawley College car park
  • 26,27,28,29 June - Horsham, (TBC)

All tests are by appointment through care providers referring to the Sussex Central Booking System

Updated guidance: providing home care - updated 24 June 2020

The ‘hospital discharge and testing’ section of this guidance  has been updated to state “anyone experiencing coronavirus symptoms can now be tested, which includes individuals receiving home care. This can be accessed through the digital portal or by calling 119 to book testing”.

Train the trainer, virtual training

This programme is aimed at the people with ‘responsibility’ for the infection control standards within your care home or domiciliary care agency. The training has a focus on the current measures in place to manage the COVID-19 pandemic, specifically donning and doffing of PPE, undertaking a COVID-19 swab and infection prevention and control.
