Direct payment

Direct payments

What is a direct payment?

If you receive social care funding from West Sussex County Council (WSCC) you will be allocated a personal budget. This is the weekly amount of money which you will be given to you to meet your needs. Direct payments let you choose and buy the services you need yourself, instead them being organised by WSCC.

If you choose to have a direct payment your money will be paid directly to a bank or building society account you have opened specifically for your direct payment. You can spend the money on services and support of your choice. You might have to make a contribution to the account however this will be decided based on your financial situation.
