Older people residential and nursing care, whether re-purposed, adapted, or newly developed, will need to take account of the following critical success factors:
- District/ borough projected demand.
- Modern design and facilities.
- Able to meet a range of needs, including dementia nursing.
- People able to stay as close to home and family/social networks as they wish.
- Access to healthcare facilities.
- Access to community facilities.
- Access to reliable and frequent public transport.
- Accessibility for the care workforce.
The Council will work in partnership with district and borough councils, developers, and providers to enable existing and future residential and nursing provision to meet future demand with an emphasis on more specialist provision to meet complex needs, in the right locations, at the right quality and price to public and self-funding customers. We are keen to work with providers that can provide innovation in the delivery of the buildings and service delivery.
