The way we support people if they have social care needs (including people who pay for their own care) and family and friend carers, is focused on enabling them to live as independently as possible, making sure they have choice and control over the way they live their lives and the support they receive, as well as keeping them safe from abuse and neglect.
We are working to embed a strength-based approach to delivering adult social care. Staff work with people to identify their strengths, capabilities and existing support networks with a view to preventing or delaying the development of their social care needs. It is an approach which depends on working in close collaboration with a range of partners, including voluntary and community sector organsations, the NHS and other Council directorates, for example, Partnerships and Communities.
